7 Ways To Get Leads From Your Business Blog
There is no doubt that customer leads are the lifeblood of your business.

How to get leads from your business blog?
With the financial benefits and rewards, it is easy to understand why many business owners spend vast resources of time and money on finding and nurturing new leads.
While Facebook marketing might be the ‘in thing’ at the moment (just like Yellow Pages was in the past), business owners sometimes overlook the power of a business blog; which if done correctly can be a cost-effective and powerful marketing solution, particularly for businesses with a limited marketing budget.
In this post, I’ll share how to get quality leads (that is, people actively interested in your products/services) through your business blog.
1. Know Your Customers

Your customer type might change as the business evolves.
Why knowing your customer matters
The best way to fully understand your customer and what they need is by having a (or a number of) customer persona/s.
When you create a customer persona it helps you nail down your offering.
A customer persona is an overview of the ideal customer you are looking to attract to your business. It is important that you detail their pain points (when the customer is looking for a product or service that you provide) and how your business can be the solution to those pain points.
In the persona outline any psychological insights or even, triggers, that can will make your customer take action (eg money back guarantees, FOMO – fear of missing out, etc etc).
When you fully understand your customer, you intimately know their problems and can create highly-targeted products/services that are the solution to that problem.
When a customer comes to know that you understand their problem (and they see you as an expert in your field) they will willingly interact with you and essentially become a ‘warm’ lead for your business.
If you do not understand your customer or can clearly identify with their pain points, you will be blogging in the dark and be effectively wasting time and money.
2. Offer A Solution To Customer’s Problems

When your potential customer reads your posts which highlight particular pain points they are encountering (and the solution you offer to their problem) they start to become more amenable to your business and brand, and consequently, more inclined to join your mailing list, make an enquiry, or even buy from you.
The result? New leads and sales from your business blogging endeavours.

3. Guest Post Where Your Customers Are

An effective way to get leads from your blogging endeavours is by guest posting on other websites.
Guest posting can be a long term business marketing strategy, but it’s well worth the effort.
When you guest post you will in return get a link back to your website (and/or blog) (which means more traffic for your business).

Target the blogs that your target customers frequent and read.
4. Provide Good Content

Your blogging activities is a way to earn your visitors’ trust, and you need to do so by writing quality content regularly.
An average post to aim for is about 1,000 words (this post is a little over 1000 words).
The reasoning behind this benchmark is relatively simple: an in-depth post (also known in the industry as long-form content) tends to get the most engagement from prospects and readers.
Most importantly is that the long form posts also rank a lot better on Google, thus delivering more traffic to the said post and your website as a whole.
When you write quality content, you will be rewarded with good visitors who will look forward to reading what next you have in store for them.
They will also tend to share the post amongst their friends, family and colleagues via social media channels which is a big plus.
5. Do Blog-to-Email Alerts

When people visit your website, offer them an incentive to sign up to receive your blog/notifications in their email.
When they register and effectively become part of your ever growing database, you can consistently alert them every time you update your blog.

Remember the 80/20 rule
Ultimately, your blog is a selling tool, but that does not mean that you should sell to your list ALL the time.
Remember the rule: 80% interaction, 20% selling.
6. Offer Content Upgrades

A blog content upgrade offers your readers premium content (insider information) in exchange for their email.
Get them into your ‘inner circle’, offer them a discount, give them a coupon…. whatever it takes to trigger them to share their email address with you.
7. Most Important Step Of All … Take Action

Business blogging is a long term strategy, but it works, especially when it comes to building trust with your target customers, and eventually, getting leads and sales.
Follow the steps outlined above this post and you have the makings of a long-term lead generating machine.
